Question 1

Is MosesTab really free for small churches?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the Starter plan is free indefinitely, not a 30-day trial. It includes member management, online giving (you only pay standard Stripe processing fees plus the 1% platform fee), basic communications, and event scheduling. For many small churches that covers the core workflow, with room to grow. You only upgrade when you specifically want features like workflow automation, SMS, child check-in, or higher messaging volumes.

Question 2

Do I need technical skills to use MosesTab?

Accepted Answer

No. MosesTab is built for church staff and volunteers without IT backgrounds. If you can use email and post on social media, you can run MosesTab. Setup comes down to a few steps: import your member list (CSV or copy-paste), connect giving through Stripe, and you're live. Volunteer admins can be productive after a brief orientation.

Question 3

Can we migrate from spreadsheets or another system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. CSV import handles spreadsheet migration with intelligent column mapping — the wizard auto-detects fields like name, email, phone, household. For migrations from Planning Center, Breeze, ChurchTrac, ChMeetings, Tithe.ly, and others, we have step-by-step guides covering data export from each platform plus mapping notes. The data side typically finishes in an afternoon. The harder part of any migration is asking recurring givers to re-authorize their giving on the new platform — that takes 2-4 weeks of donor communication, which we have email templates for.

Question 4

What if our church grows beyond 200 members?

Accepted Answer

Your data and workflows stay in place — no platform switch needed. Growth and Pro plans unlock features that matter at scale: workflow automation for visitor follow-up, email and SMS messaging, more admins and groups, and (on Pro) child check-in with security tags. The pricing is flat per plan rather than per-member, so you're not penalized for growing.

Question 5

How does MosesTab compare to Breeze, ChurchTrac, or ChMeetings for small churches?

Accepted Answer

All four serve small and mid-size churches. ChMeetings has a Free plan for up to 50 people. Breeze (now Tithely Church Management) publishes one plan at $72/month with unlimited people. ChurchTrac is priced by the number of names you track, starting at $29/month. MosesTab's Starter plan is free and Growth is $39/month, with email and SMS messaging, text-to-give, and five automation workflows included. Check each vendor's own pricing page for current details, or see our [comparison page](/best/best-small-church-software).

Question 6

Can volunteers help run things without seeing sensitive data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Role-based permissions let you grant volunteers exactly the access they need — for example, a check-in volunteer sees attendance but not giving, a small-group leader sees their group's contact info but no member-wide data. Most small churches set up 2–3 roles (admin, ministry leader, volunteer) and reuse them across all volunteers. You can revoke access in one click when someone steps out of a role.

Question 7

What support is available for small churches?

Accepted Answer

Email support is included on every plan including Starter. The help center has step-by-step articles for every common workflow. Growth and Pro plans add live chat support during business hours. We also publish step-by-step migration guides and feature tutorials at /how-to. Most small-church questions are about CSV imports, giving setup, and volunteer scheduling — all covered in the docs.
